How I Published my First Online Class
Hello, everyone. I have been working for some time on making a Skillshare design class and finally, I have published it.
In this article, I will tell you how did I get the class ready for publishing. I did it for Skillshare but once you learn the process I went through, you can use it to make your online class on any platform.
Class Description
Finalising what you will be teaching is the most important thing. Once you are done with it, make sure to think about a title and a description for the class. This will help you understand how much you are clear about your idea. For example, description of the class I am teaching -
In this class, you’ll learn how to quickly give your vector artwork a rough hand-drawn feel. It’s a super easy and fun way to add an interesting twist to your existing vector artwork.
Class Project
Its great to encourage your students to create project related to what they are learning in class. For this you should think about an easy project, that students can do along with the class. This is important as making the project helps students to get a concrete idea about the things taught in class. For example, this is the project for my class -
For the class project you can use any vector artwork you’ve already created, or you can create something specifically for this class if you feel like. Important is that you quickly jump in and try this out.
Follow these easy steps for the project:
- Pick any vector artwork you have already created or created for this class.
- Share your vector artwork with the class.
- Add the Hand-drawn feel to the artwork as taught in the class.
- Post your final artwork to your class project.
Class Outline
Once class description and project are thought about next is creating a detailed outline of how you will be creating each lecture of the class. That is we need to know in detail how many lectures does the topic need, what content should be in each lecture and how will we be producing the class(things required for the lecture). That’s it guys once you are done with this. Your structure for class is complete, this is one of the most difficult part of creating an online class. Past this phase most of the things require little to no thinking, as we have done everything before hand only.
So, now you are ready to get to production. That is shooting the lectures, getting the audio done, artwork for you class etc. We will be covering that all in other article.
